DIY Japanese Denim Sewing Pattern with Raw Selvedge Option - Digital Printable Sewing Pattern, Instructions PDF & Video Tutorial
Includes a detailed, step-by-step instruction PDF, a home printer-friendly pattern, and a large-format print scale option. Clear video tutorials are available to follow along with on YouTube. All you need is fabric of your choice, some fusing, a sewing machine, buttons, and a heat/pressing iron.
The pattern features denim pants with two front pleats and shaping darts at the bottom hem. It includes two traditional back pockets and two side-access front pockets. Both selvedge and non-selvedge versions are included in the downloadable files, allowing you to use either traditional Japanese selvedge denim or regular unfinished denim. This design is suitable for beginner to intermediate sewists, and can typically be completed in one day, even if it’s your first time sewing the pattern.

Printable Pattern (A4/Letter):
Print the pattern on regular A4 or Letter-sized paper, cut out the pieces, tape the tiles together, tape the pieces together. Then your pattern is ready to sew. Ensure the scale is correct before beginning.
Optional Large Format Pattern:
Print on 24'' x 36'' paper (also known as "D size" paper). This typically costs $2–5 per sheet at a print shop using engineering paper. Cut out the pieces, and your pattern is ready to sew.

Note: The zip file includes two versions of the pattern in one. Containing a selvedge cutline on the pattern and one without. The selvedge version is designed so that the raw edges of the side seams are finished with selvedge tape instead of a serge or flat felled seam, similar to traditional Japanese denim.
